LOCATION: District:The district encompasses the areas of Oglebay, Edgewood, Woodsdale, Fulton, North Wheeling, and North Park. Special permission for attendance from outside areas may also be obtained.
Directions:Woodsdale is located 1/4 mile from Exit 2A off Interstate 70, East. Take the exit and turn right at the end of the ramp. You will be traveling on Route 40 East. Turn left on Bethany Pike. Woodsdale is the first building on the right. Street parking is available.
FACILITIES: Woodsdale was completed for occupancy in 1975. It houses Pre-school through 5th grade students with one pod area for each grade level. The facility includes a cafeteria, gym, art room, music room, a library media center and a playground.
TEACHER SUPPORT SPECIALISTS:The school employs specialists in Art, Music and Physical Education. A School Library Media Specialist also meets with all students. Students with special needs have access to Gifted, Learning Disabled, Behavior Disorder, and M.D. specialists. We also have the services, as needed, of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist and Hearing Impaired instructor. There is a school nurse and trained guidance counselor on staff as well.
CHILD CARE PROGRAM: Before and After care for our students is provided by Orchard Park.
PARTNERS IN EDUCATION: Woodsdale Elementary has 6 Partners in Education. They are Dominos Pizza, Peterson Rehabilitation Hospital, Progressive Bank, The Children's Home of Wheeling, Perkins Resturant and WTRF, the local television station. The school undertakes various projects with our partners during the school year.
89% of our students scored at Mastery or Above on the Westest in Mathematics and Reading.
87% of our Fourth Graders score at Mastery or Above on the State Writing Assessment.
