Let
me introduce one of the most energetic groups of young people I have
ever met! "The Warwood School LEOS"! It seems that there is no
project too large or too hard for them to tackle.
Since 1957, the LEOS have grown
from a single club in Abington, Pennsylvania, to an International Lions
Club project that reaches around the world. The first club created
the LEO acronym - Leadership, Equality (later changed to Experience),
and Opportunity. The chosen colors were maroon and gold.
Through LEO membership, young
people develop leadership, organizational, and social skills. They
learn the values and rewards of service to others. They choose
projects and then plan and execute them. They make new friends,
and view the world through another perspective. As community
volunteers, LEOS develop confidence and organizational skills while
experiencing teamwork.
The sponsoring Lions Club enjoys
the rewards of working with the LEOS on some projects, and see our youth
in action in a positive role. LEOS are a "win - win
situation" for all involved. |
