Ohio County's nationally recognized school system serves approximately 5,400 students, grades pre-K-12, with a total of 13 schools:  Eight elementary (K-5); one (K-8); three middle schools (6-8); and a consolidated high school, with an enrollment of almost 1,800 students in grades 9-12. The pupil/teacher ratio is 7:2. All schools have computers and students receive instruction to become well skilled in the use of technology. There is a full range of gifted programs with a fully certified staff. Numerous awards have been won by students in Ohio County Schools. A complete program of special services for students with mental and/or physical disabilities is available. Remedial mathematics and reading classes are also provided. Excellence through a spirit of cooperation is prevalent throughout the school system. The success of excellence in education continues because of clear goals, high expectations for student achievement, hard work and commitment.
