| 4th Annual OVAC Blood Drive Competition |
|
|
History The annual OVAC Blood Competition was started in 2002 as a community service project of the St. Clairsville Sunrise Rotary Club in remembrance of the 9/11 victims. It quickly expanded to involve Rotary Clubs in three districts covering Eastern Ohio and the Panhandle of West Virginia. These Rotary CLubs Support the competition with financial donations as well as support in getting people out to donate blood. The Ohio Valley Chapter of the Red Cross was the focal point for setting up the locations for the blood drive. They provided the locations for the blood drive. They provided the locations and personell needed inm order to collect the pints of blood during the competition. This has now expanded to include two other Red Cross Districts: For the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference, the direction was simple - get people in the Ohio Valley to donate a pint of blood in the name of their favorite OVAC High School. A plaque is awarded to the school with the most donated pints of bloodfor each class - "A","AA","AAA", and "AAAA". A trophy is awarded to the school with the most pints donated. |
